Well, umm, afraid it is difficult to tell from that angle. But that man on the right has a resemblance to someone....just can't put my finger on him though.
He looks like a young Joseph Needham, the great British scientist, historian and sinologist known for his scientific research and writing on the history of Chinese science, and his conversion from Nudism to Naturism.
Science and Civilisation in China (1954–2008) is a series of books initiated and edited by Needham . They deal with the history of science and technology in China. To date there have been seven volumes in twenty-seven books. The series was on the Modern Library Board's 100 Best Nonfiction books of the 20th century.
Anyway, the Joseph Needham Award for the individual who best makes a great contribution to World Naturism is be awarded soon. And guess who is one of nominees for the award? Why, none other than the great Archduke Sir Harry Moore!
I asked an Australian bar owner, at that cat place, about how to tell between a 'Nudist', and, a 'Naturist'? He told me that a nudist is a man who keeps his shorts 'on', when he is having a shower......
(scratches head)
Could some sensible, intelligent, Wuxi Expat please tell me what the difference is?
A Nudist is a Fascist, a Communist, a Nazi. A very vulgar fellow. His aesthetic is Hustler.
A Naturist is a reactionary, a romantic, a Christian, a product of the enlightenment able to see the merits of the Medieval. He is the complete. His aesthetic is the Statue of David. It is what he aspires to.
I could write many essays on the differences and perhaps I will.
We certainly wouldn't want any of those Nudist Communists around here, fermenting revolutions, taking-over everything from other people, and all those things.
Heard that there is a sizeable, and very outspoken, Nudist sub-group, within the ranks of the Shanghai Expats.
Is that person, who is second from the right, Julien Felsenburgh?
ReplyDeleteSecond from the right?

Yes, but the man in this photo must be
ReplyDeleteJoseph's brother, then?

Thanks for the question Clyde!
The Naturist is the complete man I meant to say.
ReplyDeleteThank-you, Andis.

Keep them out of the Wuxi Expatdom, please.
