Wuxi China Expat Monkeys go to Polls

It's all over but the voting as Wuxi China Expat Monkeys head to the polls on Tuesday to elect representatives in the first ever Wuxi China Expatdom Monkey Parliament.

Wuxi China Expat Monkeys, Chimpanzees, Apes, Gorillas, Orangutans and Baboons head to the polls today to vote after what has been by many accounts a topsy-turvy federal election campaign.

Early polls suggested that Wuxi China Expat monkeys might saddle themselves with a minority Sensible Monkey government with a Liberal Monkey Opposition.

But pollsters now say all bets are off, with the Chimpanzee Cooperative Federation (CCF) under leader Jack Layton surging in popular support, and threatening to turn the political landscape on its head and deny Sensible Monkey Stephen Harper a majority government.

The Sensible Monkey leader warns that a vote for Liberal Monkey rival Michael Ignatieff would be a waste of paper, saying all Ignatieff can now hope for is to be a back-seat passenger in an CCF government.

The latest Wuxi China Expatdom Press Harris-Decima poll appeared Sunday to buttress that conclusion.

The poll, conducted Thursday through Sunday, had the Sensible Monkeys at 36 per cent support, with the CCF six points back at 30 per cent.

The Liberal Monkeys were languishing at 19 per cent, with the Bloc Baboon tied with the Green Monkeys at six per cent each.

Ignatieff accused Harper of having no vision for Wuxi China Expatdom Monkeys, but instead appeared to be driving a stake through the heart of the Liberal Monkey party.

In his last interview of the election campaign, CCF Leader Jack Layton said he hoped to work together with some or all of the other parties, should he be in a leadership position.

Bloc Baboon Leader Gilles Duceppe appeared resigned to his fate Sunday as he campaigned in his own riding.

Duceppe asked his supporters in the Monkey riding of Laurier-Sainte-Marie to let him have the seat in the Wuxi China Expatdom Monkey Parliament.
